Timber is bought differently from plywood. Two pieces of the "same" wood can differ in dryness, grade, straightness, and the number of knots, and those differences decide whether the piece works for your job. Prices are quoted by volume or length and they move with supply, so a good enquiry says what you are making, not just what wood you want.
The woods we deal in
| Wood | Character | Common use |
|---|---|---|
| Teakwood | Dense, durable hardwood, naturally resistant to moisture and pests | Door frames, furniture, premium joinery |
| Pinewood | Lighter softwood, easy to cut and finish | Frames, light furniture, battens, packaging |
| Rubber wood | Plantation hardwood, pale and even-toned; needs proper treatment | Furniture frames, tables, chairs, kids' furniture |
| Sal / kapoor wood | A hardwood sold in the trade under this name, widely used for frames | Door frames, window frames, structural woodwork |
| Beech ash wood | Pale timber used for panelling and furniture | Wall panelling, curved and slatted features |
We can also help you source other timber on request. Ask with your use and size in mind.

Timber with plywood
Solid timber is often paired with plywood and laminates: timber for frames, edges and details; plywood for large panels. If you are planning a full piece, see our plywood and laminate pages, or the guide to choosing timber for furniture making.
For manufacturers and contractors
Workshops that buy regularly can send their usual sizes as a list. See supply for furniture manufacturers and timber supplier in Kolkata.
